π¬ Our 5th graders teamed up with our kindergarten students today for a sweet holiday tradition β writing letters to Santa!
The older students were wonderful mentors, helping their kindergarten buddies sound out words, share ideas, and add lots of Christmas magic to their letters. β€οΈπ
We love seeing our students work together across grade levels and create memories that make the season bright! β¨

π¦ PAC Elementary had a gobble-tastic assembly today! π¦
We gathered together to celebrate our month of learning about gratitude, and it was truly something to be thankful for!
Students were recognized for showing gratitude in their classrooms, and others were chosen for exhibiting positive traits in specials! Talk about a flock full of fantastic kids! π§‘
Each group of award winners got to challenge the staff in some hilarious games, and letβs just sayβ¦ the competition was no turkey. Our students really showed they werenβt just βwinging itβ!
We enjoyed an interactive read-aloud from Mrs. Carlson, prep, kindergarten and first grade (who absolutely feathered their nests with that performance!), watched a heartwarming gratitude video, and talked about our December goals for positive recess behavior... because kindness never goes out of season.
And of course, we wrapped up with everyoneβs favoriteβ¦ THE GOBBLE SONG! π¦π
The whole room was shaking their tail feathers! It was fun, entertaining, and plenty to gobble about afterward!
We are so proud of our students and staff for making today such a βthank-fullβ celebration! π§‘β¨β€οΈπ€

π Yesterday at PAC Elementary, our students and staff wore blue in honor of National Grief Awareness Day.
Grief is something that touches every life, big and small. Taking time to recognize it helps remind our students that their feelings matter, theyβre not alone, and itβs okay to talk about whatβs on their hearts.
One simple but powerful truth we shared:
βGrief is love with nowhere to go. When we support each other, we give that love a place to land.β
We are proud of our students for showing compassion, kindness, and understanding, values that make our school community strong. πβ¨β€οΈπ€

πΊπΈβ€οΈ Veterans Day at PAC β€οΈπΊπΈ
Today our elementary students came together with many others to honor the brave men and women who have served our country. We waved our flags proudly, sang patriotic songs, recited the Pledge of Allegiance, and listened to the anthems of each military branch with gratitude and respect. πΆπ
Our guest speaker shared heartfelt stories that reminded us what courage and sacrifice truly mean. The smiles, salutes, and songs from our students made it a beautiful morning of reflection and thankfulness.
To all of our veterans, thank you for your service, your bravery, and the freedom you protect for us all. β€οΈπ€π

πΊπΈ Reminder! Tomorrow is Veterans Day and weβll be attending the Veterans Day program at 10:00 AM. Please have your child wear red, white, or blue to show their support and appreciation for our veterans! β€οΈπ€π
ππ» Our 6th grade students put their creativity and coding skills to the test in Computer Science class by designing and building their own cars! The best part? Our 2nd grade students got to join in on the fun by testing out the cars. What an awesome example of collaboration, innovation, and hands-on learning across grade levels! πβ¨ #STEMLearning #Collaboration #FutureEngineers #PACStrong

School Delay: Due to road conditions, The Pocahontas Area Community School District will have a 2 hour late start on Monday November 10th.
Today, our students had the opportunity to hear from Amanda Allen, who led a heartfelt and meaningful session on understanding grief and loss. π¬β¨
Through open conversation and shared stories, students learned that grief looks different for everyone β and that itβs okay to express emotions, ask for help, and take time to heal.
Weβre so grateful to Amanda Allen for creating a safe and supportive space for our students to explore these important topics. π
Thank you for reminding us that compassion, connection, and understanding can help us all through difficult times. π

π 4th Grade TAG Bridge Builders!
Our 4th grade TAG students took on an exciting engineering challenge! to design and build bridges that could withstand as much weight as possible! π§ π§ After lots of planning, creativity, and problem-solving, all of 4th grade gathered to watch the big test as sand was added little by little to see which bridges held strong. ποΈπͺ The students worked hard, had fun, and got to see the results of their designs in action! π
Did you know? π€ The strongest bridges are often triangular in design πΊ because triangles evenly distribute weight and prevent structures from bending. Arch bridges π are also super strong since their curved shape helps push weight out and down into the supports. Engineers use these ideas every day to build the bridges we drive and walk across! ππΆββοΈ

ππ Our 5th and 6th grade students had an amazing day cheering on the Iowa State Womenβs Basketball team! The energy in the arena was incredible, and our students showed their Cyclone spirit loud and proud! πͺοΈβ€οΈπ
