🎩📚 A Seuss-tastic Friday! 📚🎩
In honor of Dr. Seuss, our Kindergarten–2nd grade students had a super fun Friday! Students were split into mixed grade-level groups and spent the day rotating through fun centers and activities together. It was a great way to build friendships across grades while celebrating reading in creative ways!
✨ Fun Fact about Dr. Seuss:
Dr. Seuss wrote over 60 books, and his stories have sold more than 600 million copies worldwide!
📖 Did you know?...
Reading rhyming books helps young readers hear patterns in words, which strengthens phonics skills and early reading development. Plus, rhymes make stories extra fun and memorable!
What a great day filled with learning, laughter, and lots of Seuss-inspired fun! 🎉📚

📚🔦 Drop Everything and Read… with Flashlights! 🔦📚
Another fun activity during Read Across America was our building-wide “Drop Everything and Read” time… with flashlights! Classrooms dimmed the lights, flashlights turned on, and the entire building became quiet as students were completely engrossed in their books. It was such a fun and cozy way to celebrate the joy of reading!
📖 Fun Reading Facts:
• Just 20 minutes of reading a day exposes kids to nearly 2 million words per year!
• Kids who read regularly build stronger vocabulary, comprehension, and imagination skills.
Moments like this help students discover that reading isn’t just something we do at school!! It’s something we can enjoy anywhere!
Enjoy these pictures of our flashlight readers in action! 🔦📚✨

Last week we celebrated Read Across America Week! 📚✨
Students had fun dressing up throughout the week with hats, silly socks, pajamas, and shirts you could read! Each morning during announcements we also had masked readers, and classes tried to guess who was behind the book.
Activities like these help us nurture and grow a love of reading in our students. We love seeing their excitement for books! ❤️📖

Friday was 'honestly' the best assembly. We celebrated our Character Strong trait of Honesty!🎉
Our award winners were recognized for showing integrity, truthfulness, and doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. Our specials teachers also chose students that show exemplary skills in their classrooms. We are so proud of these students for leading by example! 👏✨
To celebrate, our winners got to compete in games that required strategy, teamwork, and a little guessing skills too! There was dancing 💃🕺, lots of laughing 😂, and cheering all around 📣
We also took time to honor Miss Aden Ford as she returns home to America after serving our country for 180 days. 🇺🇸 We are so grateful for her dedication and sacrifice. Welcome back, Miss Ford! We are so glad to have you home! ❤️
Special shout out to the 5th graders for creating a super fun game with the splats in computer science! It's so fun to see students take something they work so hard on and turn it into something that benefits the whole school!
And the big news… students are officially beating the staff 6–4! 🙌 The competition is heating up! Staff, we’ve got some work to do!
Way to go, everyone! Keep showing honesty in all you do! ❤️🖤

💍✨ Breaking News from Kindergarten! ✨💍
On Friday, kindergarten celebrated a very special wedding… Q and U got married! 💕
In phonics, they learned that Q and U are a team and they stick together in words! The rule is: Q is almost always followed by U because Q needs U to make its sound (/kw/), like in queen, quilt, quick, and quiet. 👑🧵⚡️
Our kindergarteners had the sweetest celebration! They had:
💒 A beautiful wedding ceremony
🧁 Cupcakes fit for royalty
🎶 A fun reception with lots of dancing
📖 And plenty of “QU” words to practice!
The students loved learning that whenever they see Q, they can expect U to be right by its side. Now that’s a happily ever after in phonics! 💖📚

First graders got hands-on with some local bird life this week! 🐦
As part of their current learning on birds and the physical adaptations that help them survive, students had a special visit from a first grade family who brought in two White Silkies and some baby Jumbo Pekin ducks.
Students had a blast observing, comparing, and contrasting the birds while noticing their unique features. What an exciting way to bring learning to life!

February is Turner Syndrome Awareness Month. With Rare Disease Day on Saturday, February 28, our preschool wore purple today to support those impacted by Turner syndrome. 💜

Good morning,
We'd like to provide everyone with an update regarding an accident that happened this morning. A senior was driving his 10th grade sister to the high school. At the corner of Highway 3 and SW 3rd Street (the entrance of the HS/MS), the student turned in front of a semi. Luckily a different student had just used the crosswalk, so both drivers were not going fast. The student, his sister, and the semi driver are all ok. Thank you to Mr. Vorba for being first on the site, and to Police Chief Leu for his quick response.
