Welcome back and we hope you had a wonderful summer and are ready for a good school year!
The nutrition team is thrilled to return and serve healthy, delicious meals to support all the growing minds and bodies at PAC. We hope that this is PAC Cafe's best year yet and look forward to seeing all of our students, staff & families.
Ala carts and 2nds are offered to those students with a positive lunch balance. Please be aware that we will never refuse the menued meal to any student regardless of their account balance. If you would like to place an ala carte block on your student's account please email me at jsindergard@pacsd.org.
This year we will have Share bins at the Elementary & the MS/HS.
Our students can put any Unwanted, Unwrapped or Uneaten....ITEMS ONLY that they don't want in the share bins & someone else can take them even if they have not eaten everything on their plate. If they are still hungry or thirsty they can have these items free.
BREAKFAST-PAC is an "Offer Versus Serve" (OVS) school
which means students do not have to take every food item offered. They can choose what they want to eat, but they must pick at least three of the four breakfast offered food groups, and one choice must be a fruit or a vegetable.
The Meal Groups we must offer
Fruit: Fresh fruit, canned fruit, or juice.
Grains: Toast, cereal, muffins, or pancakes.
Meat/Meat Alternate: Yogurt, cheese, or eggs (we are not required to offer meat at breakfast)
Milk: White or flavored milk.
The Rule for Students
Look at the four food groups on the menu.
Pick at least three items.
Make sure one item is a fruit (or juice).
You do not have to take everything.
You only take what you will eat so we do not waste food.
At the MS/HS for breakfast Monday-Wednesday we will offer breakfast sandwiches (with either bacon or sausage & with t
he
egg & cheese). Thursday strawberry parfaits & Friday what is on the breakfast menu.
LUNCH-PAC is an "offer vs serve" OVS school
It lets our students choose at least three of the five required food groups for lunch, as long as one choice is a fruit or vegetable (this is the only must take)
.
This rule stops food waste and gives kids control over what they eat.
Key Rules for Students
Five choices: You can take meat/protein, grain, fruit, vegetable, and milk.
Pick three or more: You must select at least three of these food groups.
Must include: One of your three choices must be a fruit or a vegetable.
Take what you want: You do not have to take every item on the menu.
Why We Do It
Less food waste: You only take food you plan to eat.
More choices: You get to pick your favorite healthy items.
Your plate, your choice: You decide what fits your hunger today.

Have a great year! Our nutrition staff this year are Pam Vinsand, Sarah Hohensee, Kaylee Schroeder, Christy Rodenburg, Meghan Ernst & myself Jeanne Sindergard. We would like to welcome our sub for this year, Carole Hohensee to our team, a very familiar face to PAC!
Please email with any questions and let me know what you would like to see on the upcoming menus. I think I have most of your favorites the first 2 months
Check out our school meal menus and download the school app for easy access to the menus.
