Risk Mitigation Measures

The district has worked hard to create risk mitigation measures to reduce the potential spread of the COVID virus and maintain instruction with students. The district understands we must continue to do everything possible to mitigate the spread of COVID to keep our doors open for as long as possible. This includes the requirement for staff to wear masks when social distancing is not possible, using disinfectant electrostatic sprayers, UV-C light disinfection units, Plexiglas dividers in some classrooms, fresh air exchanges through the ventilation systems and the encouragement of students to wear masks when social distancing is not possible.

The MNW football team temporarily suspended their JV football teams a week ago. Saturday, they announced that two people associated with the Varsity team had also tested positive. They have now suspended their Varsity football schedule for two weeks and postponed Homecoming as a result. Other schools in the area are reporting positive test results among students.

Pocahontas Area played MNW this past Friday night, 9/4/2020. The people who tested positive did not have contact with our players or coaching team. We will be monitoring our players and coaches daily for any symptoms to minimize the potential impact on our district. We do not currently believe that PAC had a direct exposure to anyone who has tested positive from Friday’s football game.

If you are symptomatic or have been notified that you have been exposed, stay home! Please contact your building nurse ASAP if you are sick or are contacted by public health regarding an exposure. Public Health will contact you if you meet the definition of positive exposure. Thank you for being part of the solution! #PACStrong
